I love shawls and wraps and have quite a few readymade ones. I thought I’d quite like to have one that I made especially for myself. I have always liked the pineapple motif and thought it would be perfect for a shawl – I looked at a lot of designs and finally chose the Sidewalk Shawl designed by Kimberly K. McAlindin (http://www.redheart.com/search/apachesolr_search/sidewalk%20shawl). The original design, although beautiful, has a very casual look/feel. I wanted something with a more formal/delicate look that would be appropriate for evening wear. I decided to make the shawl with a few changes; the yarn, crochet hook size and the number of row repeats. I started it in April 2013 and hoped to have it finished it in time for Christmas. But once started, I could not put it down and three weeks later it was finished.
My shawl measures 75″ X 35″ (not including the fringe).
Colour: Sliver grey.
The yarn used is 4 Ply Acrylic for machine knitting and a size 3.00mm crochet hook.
